The following training has been organised in the Dublin area for Five Rivers foster carers during the month of February.

Upcoming Training January - April 2015

The Five Rivers Fostering training schedule for January - April 2015 is now available for all Five Rivers carers. These workshops and training days will cover topics such as education, attachment, first aid, and much more.

Foster carers can access information regarding the time and location of each workshop by using their private login details.

Tips for Parents of Preschoolers

The early years are critical to developing a lifelong love of reading. You can't start reading to a child too soon!

Read together every day.
Read to your child every day. Make this a warm and loving time when the two of you can cuddle close together. Bedtime is an especially great time for reading together.

Educational Support

Five Rivers Educational support is now offering support to over 30 of the children/young people placed in our service and is proving a great help to develop the their educational potential.

Education of Children in Care in Ireland: An Exploratory Study, commissioned by the Ombudsman for Children’s Office, presents the results of a recent study on education for children in care in Ireland. The overarching aim of this study is to identify how the Irish education system can best support attendance, participation and attainment in education by children in care.
