Training for Five Rivers Foster Carers and Staff (20th September 2014)

We are delighted to have Marie Delaney facilitate an “Education Workshop” with carers and staff in Cork on Saturday 20/09/14. Marie is an Educational Psychotherapist,  MFL / EFL Teacher and Teacher Trainer and NLP Master Practitioner who has worked in a variety of education and academic settings. Her experience and insights promise to be particularly useful to understand the perspectives of young people and how our own emotional state can impact our interactions.

Her main interests are introducing therapeutic approaches into mainstream schools to develop realistic strategies for challenging behaviour. She is the author of 'Teaching the Unteachable' 2008 Worth Publishing, UK and 'What can I do with the kid who...' 2010 Worth Publishing UK.

She is founder director of the Learning Harbour, Crosshaven, Cork and believes firmly in its principles of:

• Everyone has the right and capacity to enjoy learning
• Educations is about bringing out and not 'putting in'
• There are many ways of being intelligent: we all need to find our own way
• Learning and teaching is fun and exciting
• Emotional blocks and past trauma can inhibit learning and can be overcome
• Successful learners/teachers are self-confident, self-reflective and secure
